Rockford and the towns around it. What settles varies more across this metro than people expect, so each town has its own page rather than the same paragraph with a different name in it.
Rockford, IL
Winnebago County
A lot of the west side and the older near-north streets have public walk and private drive meeting at a joint that has moved, which is the single most common trip hazard we get called about. The post-war subdivisions out toward Alpine and Spring Creek tend to have wider driveway slabs that sink as one piece rather than tilting at a joint.
Loves Park, IL
Winnebago County
Plenty of homes here sit on lots that were graded to drain toward the street. Once an apron or a driveway panel settles, that grade reverses over a few feet and the water pools against the foundation instead. Fixing the slab is usually cheaper than dealing with what the standing water eventually does.
Machesney Park, IL
Winnebago County
Newer builds than Rockford proper on the whole, with wider driveways and more attached garages. The village also has fewer of the old platted, sign-posted subdivisions, so addresses matter more than neighborhood names when you book.
Roscoe, IL
Winnebago County
Longer approach drives, more detached and side-load garages, and more poured patios out back than the denser towns have. Longer runs also mean more control joints, and joints are where a slab chooses to break when the ground under it moves.
Rockton, IL
Winnebago County
The older center has narrow public walks and a lot of front steps built tight against the house, which is the arrangement most likely to leave someone with a step that has separated from the stoop. Newer edges look much like Roscoe.
Belvidere, IL
Boone County
A denser grid than the outer villages, with more homes close to the public sidewalk. That proximity is what turns a settled walk into a liability question rather than only a cosmetic one, because the walk in front of a house is the one a stranger uses.
Cherry Valley, IL
Winnebago County
Newer construction, which sounds like it should mean fewer problems and often means the opposite in the first decade. Ground that was disturbed during the build has to finish compacting, and a slab poured over it comes down with it.

Towns We Reach but Have Not Written Up
We take work in Winnebago, Byron, Poplar Grove too. There is no page for them yet because we have nothing specific to say about the concrete there beyond what is already on the Rockford page, and a page that only swaps the town name is not worth your time or ours.
